Health & Care Worker Visa
The Health & Care Worker Visa is a sub-category of the Skilled Worker route, created specifically for doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and eligible social care workers who have secured a job offer with an NHS body, an NHS-approved supplier, or a CQC-regulated care provider. It offers a faster, cheaper route into the UK than the standard Skilled Worker Visa, with reduced application fees and exemption from the Immigration Health Surcharge.
Please note: since 22 July 2025, new overseas sponsorship has closed for care workers and senior care workers (SOC codes 6135/6145 and 6136/6146). Limited transitional arrangements remain in place until 22 July 2028 for those already in the UK on this route. Registered nurses, doctors and allied health professionals remain fully eligible for new applications. Our immigration lawyer can assess exactly where you or your organisation stand under the current rules.
Who Can Apply
A Health and Care Worker application requires an eligible role with an approved sponsor and a valid Certificate of Sponsorship. We review the proposed role, the applicable salary and eligibility requirements, and the supporting documents before assisting with a straightforward application.
A qualified doctor, nurse, midwife, paramedic or allied health professional (e.g. radiographer, pharmacist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech and language therapist)
A social worker or other eligible adult social care professional
Already working in the UK as a care worker or senior care worker before 22 July 2025, and looking to extend, switch employer within the transitional period, or apply for settlement
