Child Student Visa
The Child Student Visa allows children aged 4 to 17 to study at an independent (private) fee-paying school in the UK that holds a Home Office student sponsor licence. It cannot be used for academies, local authority-funded (maintained) schools, or further/higher education institutions. Because the applicant is a minor, the Home Office applies additional scrutiny around care arrangements, parental consent and safeguarding — We help families get this right from the outset.
Who This Visa Is For
You may qualify for this visa category if you are:
Children aged 4–17 who have an unconditional offer from a licensed independent school in the UK
Families arranging boarding, guardianship or host family care for their child
A parent wishing to accompany a younger child under the Parent of a Child Student Visa
Families switching a child already in the UK into this route, or extending an existing Child Student Visa
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, you must score 70 points by meeting all of the following:

A valid CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) from a licensed sponsor, confirming your course, fees and any conditions attached to your offer

The financial requirement — evidence of funds to cover any outstanding tuition fees plus living costs, held continuously for at least 28 days, ending no more than 31 days before you apply

You must apply within 6 months of your CAS being issued

A TB certificate may be required if you're applying from a listed high-risk country

The application must meet the Child Student sponsorship and financial requirements. Evidence of parental or legal guardian consent and suitable care and accommodation arrangements is also required. The financial evidence depends on the child’s living arrangements and the applicable rules.
